Wednesday Evening Prayer & Bible Study

Those who are not presently volunteering in Awana or the Student ministry meet in the sanctuary each Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm for prayer and Bible study. This mid-week service offers a very relaxed atmosphere of praise, worship, prayer and Bible study. During this time requests are shared and prayed for. The goal of this group is to offer support and encouragement to each other through prayer. We also pray for our community, missions and our nation.

Our goal is to become “a house of prayer” as Jesus commanded in Matthew 21:13. We are in training attempting to change from a “request” based to a “worship” based approach to prayer. In Daniel Henderson’s book; “Transforming Prayer,” he talks about seeking God’s face, not his hand. When we seek God’s face, we find we receive the gifts from His hand as well.

At Woodcrest we are dedicated to the task of becoming “conformed to the image of Christ” (Romans 8:29) and focusing our energy on being that  “house of prayer for all nations.”

While we are still learning and in training, we are committed to seeking God’s face. The scripture teaches that those who seek Him, find Him. If you are serious about prayer, I encourage you to start with Daniel Henderson’s book, “Transforming Prayer.” Enjoy!
