Tithes and Offerings

In Genesis 4 we see Cain and Abel presenting offerings to the Lord. We can be certain they learned this teaching from their parents. Later in the chapter we read that, “men began to call on the name of the Lord.”

From Abraham to Moses and from Jesus to Paul we read about the command to give tithes and offerings to the Lord. In this way, God allows his children to participate in the advancement of His kingdom.

At Woodcrest we are honored to follow the teaching of scripture and practice the giving of our tithes (a tenth of our income) and offerings (a gift above the tithe) to God.

Paul said; “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

We give more cheerfully when we understand that God gave His all when He sent His only Son, Jesus to die on the cross to purchase our salvation. Therefore, we gladly honor God by giving the tithe and offering to our Lord.

With your tithes and offerings, you are participating in God’s kingdom both here in Catoosa and around the world.
